Do rental houses qualify for sponsored residential services?
I want individualized care for my adult child, but I am burned out. Do I have to be the sponsor?
No. You do not have to be the sponsor. A qualified caregiver may live with your adult child and serve as the sponsor if they meet DBHDS and Family-Run requirements. That sponsor may be someone your family already knows and trusts, or an approved Family-Run sponsor with an opening.

In Virginia, sponsored residential services must operate through a licensed Medicaid provider unless the family becomes a licensed Medicaid provider itself. Family-Run serves as that provider so families do not have to navigate the licensing, documentation, and compliance process alone.
Provider fees and support levels vary, so comparing agencies matters. Many agencies charge between 20% and 35%. Family-Run charges 20% and is designed to provide practical, responsive guidance families can actually use.
